Keystone: When Your Traditional High School No Longer Fits
We all want our children to live their hopes and dreams. Like those bedtime fairy tales we read to them not so long ago, we want nothing less than for them to live happily ever after.
Life, however, has a funny way of rarely going by the book.
Take your child's high school education. While most parents plan for their children to attend a local high school, there are plenty of students who, for a variety of reasons, find they just don't fit into a traditional brick-and-mortar school:
- The brave child battling a long-term illness, who finds that a simple day at school can completely sap his or her reserves
- The promising Olympian gymnast or ice skater, whose pre-dawn training rigors require a more flexible school schedule
- The quiet, shy student, for whom academic failure seems a small price to pay to avoid the social pressures of high school
- The gifted rural student, whose mind is so ready for greater challenges, yet attends a small high school that can offer little more than mainstream choices
- The student who simply dreams of one day going to college, but has the bad luck of attending a budget-strapped high school that just isn't making the grade.
Any of these sound like your own child's story? If so, we encourage you to take a look at Keystone National High School.
For over thirty years, Keystone has been helping students receive a quality high school education that fits their unique set of needs. Keystone's correspondence and online high school courses offers your child an educational experience on par with top-tier traditional high schools.
Whether your child has his or her sights set on college, the military, or a dream of their own making, Keystone can help by letting them earn their high school diploma from home.
Fully Accredited Coursework
Any parent considering an alternative high school for their child needs to know that colleges and employers will recognize a degree from the institution. Keystone's national and regional accreditation from the Distance Education and Training Council and the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools ensure that your child's high school diploma will be seen for what it is: a genuine high school diploma from an academically sound educational institution.
True Day-to-Day Support
At Keystone, we understand that doing late-night trig problems just to keep up with your child's learning is probably not your idea of a good time. So we make sure our teacher support truly gives your child the individualized instruction and feedback that he or she needs.
When your child hits a snag with a question or problem, he or she simply calls or emails the instructor, who will, in turn, provide a prompt and thorough reply. Keystone prides itself on hiring instructors who can communicate their enthusiasm for their subjects-without the backdrop of a classroom.
All Keystone courses come with textbooks and other ancillary materials, including Learning Guides that are designed specifically for Keystone students.
A Full Range of Courses
Whether your child needs to earn an outstanding credit or a high school diploma, Keystone has a full range of coursework that you'd expect from an accredited high school. In addition to the same core, honors and elective courses you'd find at a traditional high school, Keystone recently added a complete lineup of AP courses. These accelerated courses allow college-bound students the chance to earn college credit while still in high school.
Students who have excelled in their coursework and want to be recognized for their academic achievement at Keystone are encouraged to become members of Delta Epsilon Tau, an International Honor Society established by the Distance Education and Training Council in partnership with the President of the Alpha Beta Kappa National Honor Society.
Flexible Options for On-Time Graduation
As parents, we all look forward to seeing our children dressed in their caps and gowns on graduation day. Yet all it takes is a few weeks of missed classes or a scheduling conflict between two, senior-year courses to stand in the way of your child joining her or his classmates on that special day.
Whether your child needs to catch up or wants to surge ahead, Keystone gives students the courses they need-when they need them-to make graduation a reality. To ensure Keystone coursework is fully accepted by your traditional high school, our application process includes a mandatory sign-off form that needs to be completed by your child's high school counselor prior to starting any course.
